About Me…

Thank you for visiting CAE Golf!

My name is Curtis Evanicki, I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York, in the town of Honeoye. I started golfing around the age of three; all thanks to my mother who worked on a grounds crew and in a pro shop, and would take me to work with her during summer break, weekends, and any other time she possibly could. Practically growing up at a golf course I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the golf industry, but didn’t know exactly where it would take me. Throughout high school I worked on a grounds crew during summer break, and while in college I would split my time working in the pro shop and grounds crew.

I played six years of varsity golf at Honeoye Central School. I then went on to play three years on the Keuka College golf team, where I won two events and earned all-conference honors three times. After Keuka College I moved to Pittsburgh, PA to be with my future wife and attend grad school at Robert Morris University.

My first year after college I had the opportunity to manage a small pro shop at a course just outside of Pittsburgh.  I will never forget this opportunity and met a lot of interesting people. Although this was an amazing learning experience, in hindsight I was ill-prepared and have no idea why I was even hired.

After my time in Pennsylvania my wife and I moved back to the Rochester area where I continued to work in the golf operations side of the business. In the Fall of 2014 I started the process of becoming a PGA of America member, passing my Playing Ability Test (PAT) and qualifying courses to become a Level 1 Apprentice. I worked as a golf professional at Lima Golf and Country Club for a season before becoming the Assistant Golf Professional at Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, NY in 2016.

I spent four years at Lakeside, 2016-2019, and was lucky enough to be a part of the club’s growth, from a larger membership to offering new facilities. My four years at Lakeside were extremely helpful in becoming a better golf professional and learning in depth the ins and outs of the golf operations at a very busy facility. Bob King, PGA, the head professional at Lakeside, has become an amazing mentor for myself as I continue my golf professional career.

This past winter I accepted the position of Assistant Golf Professional at Penfield Country Club and I am beyond excited to get started working at this awesome facility. Currently I am a Level 3 Associate in the PGA’s PGM program and plan on obtaining “Class A” status by the end of this year.

My wife, Jordan, and I live in Rochester with our wonderful son, Cameron, and our crazy dog, Cassie. I am excited to get CAE Golf started, provide the best golf services I possibly can, and continue to grow as a golf professional.

I will use this section to try and post at least once a week about anything golf related.

Thank you for your time and support!
